On the plus side, it does block out the wind and looks very good. It's about as good as my bike jersey at keeping water out. In no way would I consider this jacket water proof, water repellent, or water resistant. Water was soaking through the back, the sleeves, the front, you name it. It's not like water was sneaking in through the zippers on the upper body either. After about 5 minutes in a light rain I was completely soaked. The description for the jacket says it is 'water repellent' in light rain.
